Two English women and an Australian man drive across the country, visit a crater, and find their car will not start.

Mick Taylor is the reason it is notorious. John Jarratt plays him as a genial bushman who is very funny for a long stretch, and the shift is not signalled.

The film draws on the Backpacker Murders and the Falconio case, which is the source of the objections to it, and the on-screen claim about real events is a marketing device rather than a fact.

It was refused classification in one Australian state and is nasty, particularly one sequence that is over quickly and that nobody forgets.
