A fund manager takes his neglected daughter to Busan on the KTX. The outbreak boards with them.
What separates it from every other fast-zombie film is that the carriages give it a structure: the survivors have to move through a fixed sequence of spaces, and each one is a different problem. The tunnel sequence, where the infected cannot see, is the best staged set piece in modern horror.
It is also unambiguously about class, and the businessman who keeps sealing doors on other people is not subtle. Ma Dong-seok is the reason a large number of people watched anything else Korean.
