The only British film on the DPP list. A novelist, a typist and Fiona Richmond in a farmhouse.

The only British production on the DPP list, which was awkward for a campaign built around foreign filth arriving on British shelves.

A novelist rents a remote farmhouse to write his second book and hires a typist. Both of them are lying about who they are.

James Kenelm Clarke made it fast and cheap with Udo Kier, dubbed, as the writer, and Fiona Richmond, then a well-known glamour figure, as a neighbour. Linda Hayden is the one giving an actual performance and the film belongs to her.

It is a nasty little chamber piece with a real structure underneath, and it is better than its reputation, which was formed entirely by the listing.

Successfully prosecuted. Later released cut as The House on Straw Hill and passed uncut in 2020.
