You Won't Be Alone
A Macedonian witch story told as a Malick film, and it is about what it is to be a person.
In a nineteenth-century mountain village, a girl is taken by an ancient shape-shifting witch and becomes one herself. She then moves through a series of lives, wearing the bodies of the people she kills, learning what being human is from the inside.
Goran Stolevski shot it in Serbia in Macedonian, largely in voiceover, in the drifting, sunlit, whispered register of a Terrence Malick film, which is not what the folk-horror premise suggests and is exactly what makes it work.
The witch, Old Maid Maria, is a frightening creation, scarred and mute and full of grief.
It is patient and strange and far more interested in tenderness than in scares, and the sequence in which the girl inhabits a man's body and discovers a different set of freedoms is the best thing in it.
Noomi Rapace appears as one of the bodies.

A BBC play about a repressed vicar's son in the English countryside, and it is one of the strangest things ever broadcast.
Hellbender
Made by one family during lockdown for almost nothing, and it looks better than films with fifty times the budget.

A Danish-Jewish folk horror about a dybbuk, a mother, and a relationship the mother will not permit.
Don't Go Near the Park
Cursed cave dwellers from 12,000 BC eating people in modern Los Angeles. Incoherent throughout.
Huesera: The Bone Woman
Mexican, and the best pregnancy horror since Rosemary's Baby. The joint-cracking sound design is the thing.

Children orphaned by the Mexican drug war, three wishes, and the dead following them through the streets.
