The Endless

Two brothers return to the UFO death cult they escaped, and time is looping in the hills.

Two brothers who fled a cult as children receive a video and go back for a day to get closure. The members have not aged. There are three moons on some nights. The same day keeps happening in different pockets of the valley.

Benson and Moorhead directed and starred, on a bigger budget than Resolution but still tiny, and built a frightening cosmology: an unseen thing in the sky that traps areas in time loops of different lengths, some hours, some decades, and feeds on the people caught in them.

It is patient, warm about the brothers, and terrifying about the entity precisely because it never shows it.

It quietly crosses over with Resolution, and the two films illuminate each other.

It is the best thing the pair have made and one of the best low-budget science-fiction horror films of the decade.
