Ready or Not

A bride versus her new in-laws and a family obligation, and it is both very funny and mean.

Grace marries into a board-game dynasty. The family tradition is that a new spouse draws a card at midnight on the wedding night. She draws hide and seek.

Radio Silence keep it moving and keep it cruel: the family are largely incompetent, one of them has never fired a crossbow, and the servants keep dying by accident, which the film treats as an escalating running joke.

Samara Weaving is the whole thing. She spends the film in a wedding dress that is progressively destroyed and plays exhaustion and fury rather than terror.

The class argument is not subtle and does not need to be.

The last thirty seconds are one of the most satisfying endings in modern horror.
