Pieces
A chainsaw killer on a Boston campus, made by Spaniards, and it is gloriously incoherent.
Somebody is killing women on a college campus and assembling a jigsaw of body parts, in homage to a childhood trauma involving a nude puzzle.
Juan Piquer Simón made it in Spain pretending to be Boston, with an international cast dubbed into nonsense, and the film is a genuine landmark of incompetence: a kung-fu attack that is explained as bad chop suey, a tennis player who screams for a full minute, and an ending so deranged it has to be seen.
It is not good in any conventional sense and it is enormously entertaining, which is a specific and real category.
The tagline, that it is exactly what you think it is, is the most honest marketing in the genre.
It has a devoted following and repertory screenings still sell out.

Adjacent
Delirium
A Vietnam veteran, a vigilante group and a plot that gives up. Not the Lamberto Bava one.
Blood Rites
Andy Milligan shooting in Staten Island with a hand-held Auricon. An acquired taste nobody acquires.
Don't Go in the Woods
Shot in Utah for 100,000 dollars with a score that never stops. Beloved by a small and stubborn group.
Sissy
An Australian wellness influencer at a hen weekend. Much sharper and much nastier than the premise suggests.
Fight for Your Life
A home invasion built entirely on racial abuse. Genuinely hard to watch and not for craft reasons.
Mardi Gras Massacre
An Aztec-obsessed killer in New Orleans. A Blood Feast remake in all but name, and slower.
