Mardi Gras Massacre

A Blood Feast remake in everything but name, made fifteen years later and considerably slower.

A man believes he is serving an Aztec deity and is selecting the most evil woman he can find in New Orleans, which he establishes by asking. He then performs a heart extraction on an altar. This happens three times, at length, filmed almost identically.

Jack Weis shot it around real Mardi Gras footage, which gives it a documentary texture the rest of the film cannot support.

Herschell Gordon Lewis had at least a huckster's energy. This has none, and the repetition is the whole structure.

Successfully prosecuted and, unusually, never resubmitted to the BBFC, which makes it one of the few DPP titles still unavailable in Britain.
