Won the Palme d'Or. A film about a woman, a car and a grieving fireman, and it is not a comedy.

Won the Palme d'Or, which for a film containing what this contains is remarkable.

A woman with a titanium plate in her skull from a childhood accident works as a dancer at car shows, kills people, and has a physical relationship with a car. She then goes into hiding by presenting as the long-missing son of a fire station captain.

Ducournau's actual subject is the second half. Vincent Lindon plays a grieving father injecting steroids who has decided this is his son and will not be told otherwise, and the relationship that develops between them is tender in a way nothing in the first act prepares you for.

Agathe Rousselle had never acted before.

It is really two films and the seam is visible. The second one is much better and the first one is why anybody watched it.

The nose sequence, the stool, and the fire station dance are the three moments.

Every line is dubbed, including scenes with nobody talking. Almost hypnotically incompetent.
