Inside
The most extreme film on this site. A pregnant woman, her house, and a woman with scissors.
The most extreme film on this site and it should be approached accordingly.
A pregnant woman four months after the car accident that killed her partner, alone in her house on Christmas Eve, the night before she is induced. A woman knocks on the door and knows her name.
Bustillo and Maury shoot it in deep red and black with an escalating body count of people who arrive to help, and the film's method is that it never cuts away and never lets the situation become survivable.
Béatrice Dalle is extraordinary and the film gives her a motive late that reframes everything without excusing any of it.
It is technically superb, which is precisely what makes it so difficult. Nothing about it is careless.
Watch it once, if at all. Do not put it on for somebody who has not asked for it.

New French Extremity was coined by James Quandt in Artforum in 2004. What the phrase covered, and how Cannes and the BBFC handled it.

Adjacent
Blood Rites
Andy Milligan shooting in Staten Island with a hand-held Auricon. An acquired taste nobody acquires.
Fight for Your Life
A home invasion built entirely on racial abuse. Genuinely hard to watch and not for craft reasons.
Mardi Gras Massacre
An Aztec-obsessed killer in New Orleans. A Blood Feast remake in all but name, and slower.
Exposé
The only British film on the DPP list. A novelist, a typist and Fiona Richmond in a farmhouse.
Don't Go Near the Park
Cursed cave dwellers from 12,000 BC eating people in modern Los Angeles. Incoherent throughout.
Frozen Scream
Every line is dubbed, including scenes with nobody talking. Almost hypnotically incompetent.
