The Boogey Man

A haunted mirror, a Halloween score Ulli Lommel could not afford to license properly, and a very effective first fifteen minutes.

A boy watches his mother's lover tie her up, and kills him. Twenty years later his sister, mute since that night, breaks the mirror that reflected it, and the shards start acting independently.

Lommel had acted for Fassbinder and moved to America with Warhol's circle, which is the background everybody reaches for to explain the gap between the opening and everything after it.

The mirror-shard idea is good and the film has no idea what to do with it beyond a sequence of deaths.
