The puberty metaphor made completely explicit, and it is much funnier and much better acted than that description suggests.

Two sisters in Ontario are obsessed with death and have a pact to leave town together. One of them is bitten on the night of her first period, and the film runs the transformation and the adolescence as a single process, with a mother who is delighted by all of it.

Katharine Isabelle and Emily Perkins are very good, and the film's real subject is the sister who is being left behind rather than the one changing.

It was made in Canada shortly after Columbine and struggled for funding on the basis of the content, which is why it looks as cheap as it does.

The practical wolf design in the last act does not work. Everything before it does.
