Contamination
An Alien knock-off with exploding chests and a Goblin score doing heavy lifting throughout.
An Alien knock-off with an enormous Goblin score doing more work than everything else combined.
Alien eggs arrive in New York on a cargo ship from Colombia and burst people from the inside in slow motion, which is the film's one effect and it is deployed roughly every twelve minutes.
Luigi Cozzi made it fast to catch the wave, and the ambition is visible in the budget's absence: the Martian cyclops in the final act is a rubber puppet lit as darkly as the negative would allow.
The score is excellent and was released on its own merits.
Listed by the DPP, dropped, and it is now passed uncut. The chest bursts are the reason it was on there, and they are slower and gooier than anything in the film they are copying.

Night of the Demon
Bigfoot tears a man's genitals off. That is the scene, that is the film, that is why it was prosecuted.
Possum
A disgraced puppeteer returns to his childhood home carrying a bag he cannot get rid of.
Huesera: The Bone Woman
Mexican, and the best pregnancy horror since Rosemary's Baby. The joint-cracking sound design is the thing.
The Werewolf and the Yeti
Paul Naschy in the Himalayas. On the list almost certainly because somebody read the title and stopped.
Night of the Bloody Apes
A luchadora, a heart transplant from a gorilla, and real open-heart surgery footage spliced in.
Spring
A love story that happens to involve an immortal woman whose body is not stable. Benson and Moorhead again.
