Alice runs a successful webcam channel and is climbing the site's rankings. One day her account is live, performing, without her, run by a version of her face she cannot control and cannot log into.

Daniel Goldhaber made it from a script by Isa Mazzei, a former camgirl, and the film's authenticity about the work, the labour, the ranking algorithms, the parasocial regulars, is the thing that separates it from every other doppelgänger film.

It is a horror film about identity as a monetised online performance, made just as that became everyone's reality, and it refuses to moralise about the job itself.

Madeline Brewer plays both Alices and the film never explains the mechanism, which is the right call.

The climax, Alice competing against her own copy live on camera, is a truly original set piece.
