The House That Dripped Blood

A Scotland Yard inspector investigates a missing actor and hears the history of the house he vanished from.

Robert Bloch, who wrote Psycho, scripted all four, and the standout is the last, in which an actor playing a vampire buys a real cloak that starts to work. It stars Jon Pertwee doing a broad parody of a horror star, complete with a line mocking a rival studio, and Ingrid Pitt.

The Christopher Lee segment, about a man terrified of his own quiet daughter, is the most unsettling.

There is in fact very little blood in it, the title being pure Amicus salesmanship, and the film was passed with a low certificate on release.

Peter Duffell directed it and disliked the title intensely.
