Nightmares in a Damaged Brain

A man on an experimental drug programme is released, drives to Florida, and the film cuts between his hallucinations and a boy playing pranks on his mother's boyfriend.

Its place in the history is not artistic. David Hamilton Grant, who distributed it in Britain, was jailed for eighteen months for supplying an obscene article, which makes this the DPP case that actually put somebody in prison. He had submitted a cut version and shipped a longer one.

The marketing claimed Tom Savini had done the effects. He had not, and said so publicly and repeatedly, which the distributor ignored because the claim was selling tapes.

As a film it is slow, and the twist is visible from a considerable distance.
