Paul Morrissey directed it, Andy Warhol's name went above the title for marketing, and Carlo Rambaldi did the effects seven years before he built E.T.

The 3D is the point. Organs are handed toward the camera and held there. Rambaldi's viscera were designed to be looked at down the lens, which is why the film is shapeless as narrative and works as a series of presentations.

Kier plays the whole thing in an accent nobody could dub around and delivers the film's famous line about knowing death, which has outlived everything else in it.

Successfully prosecuted. Passed 18 uncut in 2006.
