Cocaine Bear
A black bear ingests a fortune in dropped cocaine and goes on a rampage. Loosely, very loosely, based on a true event.
In 1985 a drug smuggler dumped cocaine from a plane over Georgia and later died in the fall; a black bear found some of it and died. That is the true part. The film imagines what would have happened if the bear had lived and kept going.
Elizabeth Banks directed a gory comedy that is exactly what the title promises: an apex predator on stimulants working through a state park full of hikers, gangsters, park rangers and children.
It knows precisely what it is, plays the kills for slapstick, and never pretends to be anything other than a premise stretched to feature length.
Ray Liotta is in it, in one of his last roles.
It is not scary and not trying to be. It is a one-joke film that commits to the joke, and the ambulance sequence is the highlight.

Adjacent
Don't Go in the Woods
Shot in Utah for 100,000 dollars with a score that never stops. Beloved by a small and stubborn group.
Night of the Demon
Bigfoot tears a man's genitals off. That is the scene, that is the film, that is why it was prosecuted.
Axe
68 minutes, shot in nine days, and oddly melancholy for something on a banned list.
The Werewolf and the Yeti
Paul Naschy in the Himalayas. On the list almost certainly because somebody read the title and stopped.
Night of the Bloody Apes
A luchadora, a heart transplant from a gorilla, and real open-heart surgery footage spliced in.
Sightseers
A caravan holiday across the English Midlands turns into a killing spree, and it is a very bleak comedy about class and resentment.
