Bloody Moon
Jess Franco doing a slasher for German money. Contains the stone-saw scene and little else.
Jess Franco doing a slasher for German money, which meant a plot he did not write and a body count he had to hit.
A Spanish language school for young women, a disfigured man released from an institution, and a series of killings. Franco shoots it with more coverage and less drift than his own films usually have, because the producers were paying for a product.
There is a sequence involving a stone-cutting saw that is the reason for both the notoriety and the prosecution, and it is filmed in one long take in bright sunlight.
A snake is killed on camera and a child is killed on camera, the latter being unusual enough that several territories cut it regardless of the DPP.
Successfully prosecuted. Franco made around 170 films and this is nobody's favourite.

Adjacent
Delirium
A Vietnam veteran, a vigilante group and a plot that gives up. Not the Lamberto Bava one.
Don't Go in the Woods
Shot in Utah for 100,000 dollars with a score that never stops. Beloved by a small and stubborn group.
Sissy
An Australian wellness influencer at a hen weekend. Much sharper and much nastier than the premise suggests.
Mardi Gras Massacre
An Aztec-obsessed killer in New Orleans. A Blood Feast remake in all but name, and slower.
The Slayer
A painter's nightmares kill people on an off-season island. Genuinely atmospheric and badly underrated.
Unhinged
Three women, a mansion, rain, and a twist. Shot in Oregon and stranger than its reputation.
