Twins of Evil
Peter Cushing as a witch-hunter who is worse than the vampires, and the Collinson twins were Playboy's first.
A puritan brotherhood burns young women as witches in a central European village. Cushing's Gustav Weil is their leader and the moral rot of the film: he burns the innocent and misses the actual vampire in his own house.
It is the third of Hammer's Karnstein trilogy, loosely from Le Fanu's Carmilla, and the most interesting because it makes the witch-hunter the horror. Cushing had just lost his wife and plays Weil with a coldness that is truly frightening.
Mary and Madeleine Collinson, identical twins, play the good and corrupted sisters, and the gimmick is that Weil cannot tell which is which and burns on suspicion.
It is late Hammer, when the studio was adding more sex to compete, and it is one of the few from that period that works as more than that.

Made by one family during lockdown for almost nothing, and it looks better than films with fifty times the budget.

Cursed cave dwellers from 12,000 BC eating people in modern Los Angeles. Incoherent throughout.
Let's Scare Jessica to Death
A woman fresh out of a psychiatric hospital moves to a Connecticut farmhouse, and the film never confirms what is real.
Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell
A plane crash, an alien blob, and the single most striking red sky in Japanese genre film. Tarantino borrowed it.
A Dark Song
A grieving mother and an occultist doing a months-long ritual properly. The tedium is deliberate.
Alucarda
Mexican nunsploitation with an actual argument, and everybody in it screams for eighty minutes.
